The new session of the Lanark and Carluke Choral Union has resumed under the watchful eye of Musical Director Leon Reimer.
Practises resumed on Monday 4th September following a successful open night the previous week that attracted newcomers to all parts of the choir – we were especially glad to see some new men come along!
One newcomer, Stephen Mccaw had this to say …. and we’re very happy to have you with us Stephen!
There is always room in all section for new singers. We are a non audition choir, as we realise that can be quite daunting for folks. However, a quick work with Leon will soon find the right section for you.
Our weekly rehearsals are on Monday evening’s at 7.30pm in Greyfriars Church, Lanark. We usually meet in the hall but occasionally rehearse in the church itself.
Our committee for the current season has changed a little. We have said a great big thank you to three members who have stepped down but remain with us as singers.
Anne Renton has been librarian for many years and has now decided to hang up the store room keys, passing them on to Christina Murrie who takes on the role.
Isabel Robertson, who stepped down as treasurer a few years ago, has now decided to step down as a committee member. Thank you Isabel for your many years of carefully watching our accounts and organising our Tolbooth day each year.
Finally, Don Mackenzie has stood down from committee. Don has served at various time on different committees and his wealth of knowledge of the choral and local things has been invaluable. His bi-annual hard work in gaining sponsors from local retailers has been a great help in organising our refreshments for concerts.
Thank you Anne, Isabel and Don for your faithful and diligent service. We look forward to many more years with you as singing members of the choral.
